Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court


Justice Greaney signed on to the majority opinion in McDuffy v. Sec'y of the Executive Office of Educ., 415 Mass. 545 (1993), and filed a dissenting opinion in Hancock v. Driscoll, 443 Mass. 428 (2005).

He became the presiding judge of the Hampden County Housing Court in 1974. He later served as an Associate Justice and then Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and assumed his present position as an Associate Justice in 1989.

Justice Greaney also lectures and writes extensively for legal and judicial education programs, and has served as Chair of the Appellate Judges Conference of the American Bar Association.
